Xiaomi 12 Pro

Redefinition of Beauty;Xiaomi 12 Pro

Xiaomi  has increased the frequency of its high-end phone releases in India. Xiaomi 12 Pro was released this year for a reasonable 62,999. After the Realme GT 2 Pro, it’s the second-cheapest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phone in India in terms of price. Is it sufficient to make you want to purchase it? Well, let’s find out.

First, however, we’ll examine the capabilities of the Xiaomi 12 Pro. Beautiful design, incredible 120Hz OLED display, strong Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU, triple 50MP cameras on the back, and lightning-fast 120W charging technology are just a few of its features.

Design

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is the first Xiaomi smartphone to appear so refined and classy. It seems like they’ve hit their stride with premium phone design. The purple one is quite stylish.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro has a Gorilla Glass Victus display and a lightweight aluminum body. The phone has excellent construction considering its price: the all-screen front features rounded corners and razor-thin bezels. The screen’s display hides the optical fingerprint reader. The cutout for the front-facing camera resembles a punch hole and is positioned dead center.

The back glass panel is frosted and glitters in the light when you hold the phone at certain angles. The frosted coating can’t prevent the phone from becoming slippery, but it may lessen the number of fingerprints on it. The button locations and responsiveness are excellent. There is little wiggle room with the Xiaomi 12 Pro.

A sleek aluminum chassis houses the three cameras at the back. In a market saturated with triple-camera phones, Xiaomi has managed to set itself apart with the design of the Xiaomi 12 Pro.

Both the top and bottom of the phone serve as speakers. Harman Kardon, which is owned by Samsung, fine-tuned the speakers. The speaker grilles are designed to resemble waves of sound. An innovative feature from Xiaomi. It’s difficult to avoid covering one set of speakers when using the phone in landscape mode since they’re on opposite sides of the device.

Display

One of the finest parts of the Xiaomi 12 Pro is its 6.78-inch 120Hz OLED screen. It’s vivid, vivid, piercing, and engrossing. The screen of the Xiaomi 12 Pro is bright enough for practically everyone in every lighting situation, albeit it isn’t quite as brilliant as the Galaxy S22 plus’s. So it was never an issue to read the screen, even in the bright sunlight of Chennai.

You may experiment with the other color settings, such as Saturated, Original Color, and Advanced, to find the one that suits your preferences best. You may also experiment with the presets and color temperature wheel.

To further customize the colors to your liking, you may use the Red, Green, and Blue sliders after selecting a color gamut (Original, P3, or sRGB). In addition, the Xiaomi 12 Pro also includes hue, Saturation, Contrast, and Gamma sliders.

The 120 Hz refresh rate makes the display seem silky smooth. Alternate options are 60Hz, 90Hz, and Auto. As a result, the display of the Xiaomi 12 Pro looks fantastic for everything from reading to watching movies.

Camera

The Xiaomi 12 Pro sports a 50MP ultrawide camera, a 2x optical zoom 50MP telephoto camera, and a 50MP wide camera with OIS and dual-pixel autofocus. OIS with a 2.5x or 3x optical zoom would be great for a telephoto camera. But it’s encouraging to see Xiaomi trying to be consistent.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro’s 50MP main camera has a massive 1/1.28-inch sensor. When used throughout the day, it takes excellent photos and movies. There’s just enough vibrancy to the hues. There are a lot of specifics and very little background noise. There is a lot of variation in volume, too.

The default resolution of the Xiaomi 12 Pro’s three cameras is 12.5 megapixels, and upgrading to the 50-megapixel option doesn’t offer much more information to the photos. The Xiaomi 12 Pro’s three rear cameras can record video at up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. But once you begin recording, you won’t be able to flip between the different sensors.

Software

MIUI 13, based on Android 12, was preinstalled on the Xiaomi Mi 12 Pro upon its release. The program is very aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. In addition, it has an abundance of useful functions.

The MIUI 13 software for the Xiaomi 12 Pro has attractive animations and transitions, and you should be pleased with it. Xiaomi has improved much since the days of the clumsy MIUI software, yet certain issues persist. For example, some parts of the user interface don’t seem to match up with others.

MIUI 13 is fast and aesthetically pleasing. However, it also includes several extra unnecessary applications and alerts.

After that, there’s the problem of unnecessary extra software. Inconvenient preloaded software may be removed from the phone. Some applications, however, such as Get Apps and Emoji Keyboard, are not removable.

Battery

The Xiaomi 12 Pro’s 4,600mAh battery doesn’t appear powerful enough to power the device’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and 6.73-inch 120Hz OLED screen. A full charge should last you through the day under normal conditions, but prolonged use of the camera or the game could need another charge that night. Xiaomi could have given the 12 Pro a 5,000mAh battery and made it a formidable device.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1’s throttling problems under heavy use have become well-known in the months following its release. While the chipset is quick, it gets rather hot during use. As a result, lots of cooling is required. Phones with limited cooling capabilities, like the Xiaomi 12 Pro, are particularly problematic.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro performs quickly and smoothly in most common situations. However, if you subject it to prolonged gaming or camera usage, it will quickly get overheated and begin to throttle performance.

Conclusion

The Xiaomi 12 Pro stands out as an excellent option for high-end phones. It sports a sleek appearance, a high-quality 120Hz OLED display, and reliable rear cameras. It charges at a mind-blowing 120W, is silky smooth, and charges quickly. However, you may want to reconsider your purchase due to the lack of an IP certification and the battery life that falls short of expectations.
