Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G: Impressive Performance

The year 2022 kicked out spectacularly for smartphone fans with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE and the OnePlus 9RT in India. Xiaomi released its 11T Pro 5G flagship while everyone was discussing which of the two was superior. The latest release matched the features of the previous two in every respect, from the high refresh rate screens and Snapdragon 888 SoC to the 108-megapixel camera. Also included is a 120W fast charger.

Xiaomi’s newest release is a great smartphone and multimedia bundle thanks to its Harman Kardon speakers, 10-bit display, and Dolby Vision compatibility.

Design

Both the front and back of the Xiaomi 11T Pro are made with scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass Victus. The phone’s 8.8mm thickness and 204g weight aren’t negligible increases, but the ergonomic design is thanks in large part to the rounded rear panel and balanced weight distribution.

The smartphone is available from Xiaomi in three different colors: Celestial Blue, Moonlight White, and Meteorite Black. The Celestial Blue kind is especially attractive because of how the light plays over its surface, which causes it to change from blue to purple. The smartphone’s matte texture also makes fingerprints difficult to see. Even though the large camera island on the back sticks out quite a bit and causes the phone to wobble when stored on a flat surface, the phone’s overall weight distribution is excellent.

Xiaomi and 5G branding sit beside the camera module at the bottom left of the rear panel. Turn the phone over, and you’ll find a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a hole drilled right in the middle of it. The right side has the power/volume buttons and fingerprint scanner, while the left side is completely barren. You’ll find the dual nano-SIM card slots, a USB-C connector, and a speaker grille along the chin. A second speaker is mounted on top for stereo sound. Also on the top is the infrared blaster, which can control many devices with a single click.

Display

The 6.67-inch AMOLED display has a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, up to 480 Hz of touch sampling, and Full High Definition Plus resolution with a 120 Hz of refresh rate. Even in bright sunshine, the colors pop, the writing is crisp, and the readability is excellent. And the 120Hz refresh rate provides for a far more fluid user experience.

This 10-bit panel’s ability to render 1 billion colors is remarkable from a multimedia viewpoint. The display’s capability for MEMC allows for more fluid video rendering. You’re in for a fantastic multimedia experience thanks to support for features like WideVine L1, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, HDR10+, and Harman Kardon stereo speaker tuning.

Camera

The main camera of the Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G has a resolution of 108 megapixels and a focal length of 1.75 micrometers. It has two autofocus cameras, one with a 5-megapixel telephoto lens and a 120-degree wide-angle lens, and one with 8 megapixels in total. The front-facing camera is a 16-megapixel shooter with an aperture of f/2.45.

The camera interface is standard MIUI, with options like “Pro,” “Video,” “Photo,” “Portrait,” and “More” on the main menu. Under “More,” you’ll get access to other shooting modes. On top of the finder are tabs for flash, high dynamic range, artificial intelligence scene detection, filters, Google Lens, and the hamburger menu. Aspect ratio, timer, settings, Super macro, Tilt-shift, and Pro color are all tucked away under the hamburger menu.

The camera can record in 8K resolution and can shoot in HDR 10+, use a video pro mode, record movies with special effects, and record in a VLOG mode. Selfie-goers will like that 1080p video at 60 frames per second is possible with the device’s recording capabilities. Curiously, there is no OIS support, which is the sole downside.

Software

Xiaomi is still releasing flagship smartphones in 2022 with the Android 11.1–based MIUI 12.5 interface. You get the standard fare, such as a theme shop, several AOD clock designs, Game Turbo, Floating Windows, and a screen recorder. Despite recent efforts to streamline the user experience, significant bloatware remains on the Xiaomi platform. Thankfully, you can now uninstall bundled programs that you seldom use. Xiaomi also claims that the smartphone would get three major Android upgrades and four years’ worth of security fixes, which is nice to hear but leaves room for skepticism.

Battery

The Xiaomi 11T Pro has a powerful battery capacity of 5,000mAh. The battery can endure for more than 24 hours, even with daily use of several social media platforms and at least an hour of gaming. The icing on the cake was the 120W rapid charging that fully replenished the enormous battery in around 25 minutes. This is a lot longer than the 17 minutes that Xiaomi advertised, but it’s still outstanding.

Performance

The Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G is powered by the top-tier Snapdragon 888 SoC and has up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Xiaomi’s use of LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage helps improve the device’s overall performance. Nonetheless, I was surprised to see that the 11T Pro 5G lacked the option for virtual RAM extension, especially given that even inexpensive phones already have this capability.

The Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G lives up to its flagship status by effortlessly juggling many tasks. When you initially start Battlegrounds Mobile in India, the visual quality and frame rate are set to their highest defaults. Although it supports Ultra HD visuals and Ultra frame rates, smoother settings are required for 60 fps gameplay. There are no noticeable hiccups during normal gaming, but once the throttling begins, you may feel a few.

Conclusion

The Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G is worthy of the ‘Pro’ title except for the out-of-date Android OS and the throttling problem unique to the Snapdragon 888. With bank discounts, the price of the smartphone drops to Rs 34,999 from the starting point of Rs 39,999. The 11T Pro 5G is a ridiculously well-equipped device for its low price. You get a strong set of cameras, amazing performance, a quick 120W charger, and a gorgeous high refresh rate screen that plays HDR material pretty well.

The Xiaomi 11T Pro not only provides substantial savings in comparison to its rivals but also provides a comprehensive bundle.
