Is the Samsung Galaxy A53 Worth the Hype?

Samsung is finally taking on the mid-range market in 2022 with the launch of the A53 5G, which comes alongside the slightly cheaper A33 5G. However, don’t be fooled by the price tag because this phone is just as well-equipped as any modern smartphone, with some exciting surprises thrown in.

Let’s face it, the Galaxy S22 is an impressive phone, but it’s definitely not easy on the wallet. Luckily, Samsung has developed a solution for those who want top-notch features without breaking the bank. The A53 5G offers excellent value for money, joining the ranks of Samsung phones that cost only half the price of its flagship devices. While it may not be the cheapest option available, the A53 5G still delivers a host of features that are well worth the relatively low cost.

In India, you can choose between two Samsung Galaxy A53 5G models, both of which come with 128GB of storage space. The 6GB RAM model costs Rs. 34,499, whereas the 8GB RAM model can be purchased for Rs. 35,999. The model with more RAM is the most cost-effective option. The Galaxy A53 comes in four colors: blue, black, white, and orange. The Light Blue 8GB RAM model was sent to me.

Design

While the A53 5G’s appearance is undeniably striking, it’s not as opulent as the Galaxy S22, at least not at first glance. Instead, it’s a huge phone with a 6.5-inch screen and thin bezels, and the camera housing on the back flows with the rest of the device.

The plastic build doesn’t make it seem cheap, nor does the IP67 rating for resistance to water and dust. However, the rims’ chrome finish is a lovely touch.

The phone has a reasonable size of 159.6 x 74.8 x 8.1 mm and a weight of 189g. So long as your hands aren’t enormous, you won’t find it too cumbersome.

The phone’s power button and volume rocker are on its right edge, while the USB Type-C connector is in the typical bottom spot. It lacks a 3.5mm headphone port but has a fingerprint reader embedded into the screen.

The phone has a subtle camera protrusion at the back. This is because the device’s rear rises to meet it and doesn’t protrude very far.

Display

At 6.5 inches, the display of the Samsung Galaxy A53 is stunning, with an FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a max brightness of 800 nits. Sure, other phones in this price range may offer similar specs, but Samsung’s display technology really sets the A53 apart.

Their Super AMOLED display is the show’s real star, delivering vibrant colors and crisp visuals that will leave you feeling like you’re in the middle of all the action. So if you enjoy watching videos or playing games on your phone, the Samsung Galaxy A53 will not disappoint.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy A53 may not be on par with the company’s top-of-the-line Galaxy S series regarding camera performance, but it still manages to outshine other phones in its price range.

The primary camera is a 64-megapixel one, a 12-megapixel one with an ultrawide 123-degree f/2.2 lens, a 5-megapixel one with a macro lens, and a 5-megapixel one with a depth sensor.

Taking photos with the primary camera yields clear results, and the phone’s dynamic range is impressive for the price range. In addition, the Galaxy has a variety of photographic settings to maximize its camera setup.

Regarding the video, both the rear and front cameras can record in 4K at 30 fps and 1080p at 60 frames per second, respectively. It’s unusual for a phone to have such a high-quality front-facing camera that can record in 4K. There is also “Super Slow-Mo,” which is exactly what it sounds like.

Battery

The battery of the Samsung Galaxy A53 is rather large, with 5,000mAh. However, it is useful since the 5G connection, and the bright screen use much power.

It takes an unbearably long time to charge this phone completely. The Galaxy’s 25W charger falls short in a market where cheaper phones can receive up to 120W.

Software

Samsung’s OneUI 4.1 overlay sits atop Android 12 on the factory-fresh A53 5G. Last year’s user interface and configuration settings update include new theme and color options. In addition, a green alert in the upper right corner of the screen now shows anytime an app is utilizing your camera or microphone as part of the new privacy controls.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy A53 is powered by the company’s mid-range Exynos 1280, which makes its debut appearance in this phone. This octa-core powerhouse is built on a cutting-edge 5nm fabrication, with a maximum clock speed of 2.4 GHz.

But wait, there’s more! The A53 5G also boasts 6GB of RAM, making it a multitasking machine. And with 128GB of internal storage, expandable up to a whopping 1TB via microSD, you’ll never have to worry about running out of memory.

But that’s not all. The A53 5G also features Samsung’s “RAM Plus” mode, which allows you to allocate either 2GB, 4GB, or 6GB of onboard storage to be used as virtual memory.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy A53 – a sleek and stylish phone that boasts an eye-catching display and cameras that will leave you feeling star-struck, all at a price that won’t break the bank. While it offers good value for money overall, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution, as it has shortcomings.

For starters, its charging speed can put a damper on your day, so if you’re always on the go, you may want to keep that in mind. Additionally, its performance can be a bit shaky sometimes, which may be a deal-breaker for those who demand nothing but the best. Nonetheless, if you’re looking for a phone that offers plenty of bang for your buck and don’t mind waiting a bit longer for it to charge up, the Samsung Galaxy A53 may just be the perfect fit for you.
