Redmi Note11 Pro+ 5G: A Powerful Device with Some Caveats

The newest Redmi Note models from Xiaomi span both the low and high ends of the price spectrum. For those who can afford to spend more than 20,000 on a smartphone, Redmi has released the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G. It has a very high-resolution camera (108 megapixels) and a fast charging system (67 watts). The 120Hz OLED display is often only seen in high-end gadgets, but this phone has it too.

However, how well does the Redmi Note11 Pro+ 5G perform in other areas, or does it just meet minimum requirements? Well, let’s find out.

Design

There is a glass sandwich construction on the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G. Gorilla Glass 5 protects the front but not the rear, which is not covered by any glass. Instead, a plastic frame holds these two panels in place. You can purchase the phone in Phantom White, Stealth Black, or Mirage Blue in India.

The handset’s bulky design makes it awkward to hold for long periods of time. So it’s possible that some people would find it uncomfortable to hold the 202-gram Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G.

Its flat edges are reminiscent of the Redmi Note 11, another Xiaomi smartphone. However, the bulky shape and heavy weight do not contribute to a comfortable grip. In addition, the double-stacked camera protrusion might cause significant wobble.

Rather than having a separate button, the phone’s power on/off mechanism doubles as a fingerprint scanner. It does exactly what you want it to do and does it quickly and precisely. There is a hybrid SIM slot in the device. The IP53 rating indicates the phone is protected against dust and water.

Display

The 6.6-inch AMOLED screen on the Redmi Note11 Pro+ 5G is stunning. It provides sharp contrast and a wide range of vivid colors.

With a resolution of 2,400 by 1,080, the screen has a pixel density of 395 pixels per inch. The screen’s maximum brightness of 1,200 nits ensures that you can read in direct sunlight. Furthermore, Xiaomi’s 120Hz puts it in the company of other high-end gadgets. Moreover, the fast frame rate of the user interface is a nice complement to the high refresh rate of the screen.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G boasts of narrow side bezels for a low-priced smartphone. To top it all off, the business has opted for a small punch-hole large enough to include a selfie camera. The display of the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G is excellent.

Camera

In addition to its primary 108MP camera, the Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G also has an ultrawide 8MP camera and a dedicated 2MP macro lens.

With pixel binning, the main 108MP camera can only produce 12MP photos. On the other hand, the primary camera gets fantastic color and lighting. The Realme Note 11 Pro+ isn’t as impressive a camera as the Realme 8 Pro (which had 108MP). Although I cannot be certain, I believe that Realme’s algorithms are more optimally suited for the 108MP sensor than those of its Chinese rival.

The ultrawide camera’s 8 megapixels allow it to record a wider scene, but at the expense of quality. So while the barrel distortion is visible, it is not a deal breaker.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G’s maximum video resolution is 1080p at 30 frames per second. Ignore 4K; this phone can’t even handle 1080p at 60 frames per second. This may turn some customers off, especially given that the cheaper Realme 9 5G Speed Edition can capture 4K video at 30 fps.

Battery

There’s a 5,000 mAh battery within the phone, so a single charge will keep you going for a whole day. In addition, Xiaomi includes a 67W charger with the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, which is a nice touch since many other manufacturers are leaving the charger out of their retail packaging. Within 15 minutes, it gets charged from empty to 48 percent. And you can completely charge the battery in only 45 minutes, which is remarkable.

Software

As disappointing as it may be to hear, Xiaomi will not be releasing Android 12 anytime soon. Instead, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G uses Android 11 and MIUI 13 as its user interface. In general, the software conforms to the Xiaomi norm. Big, bright icons, organized app drawers, and many factory-installed applications are just a few of the perks.

There are also some brand-new features. The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, like the OPPO and Realme phones, has an edge glow notification function. It’s not brand new, but it’s a welcome improvement.

You can toggle the app drawer on or off. Phone applications are sorted into categories like “Communication,” “Entertainment,” “Photography,” “Tools,” and “Business” if you wish to use this feature.

In MIUI 13, the notification bar and the control center are two entirely different components. In addition, the Redmi Note 11 lacked support for split-screen multitasking, a feature included in the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G.

Performance

Normal work will go smoothly and quickly on Qualcomm’s 6nm Snapdragon 695 chipset. However, when it comes to playing games, the hardware has little trouble keeping up with the requirements. Also, challenging games like Call of Duty: Mobile are available for your mobile device. Graphics are set to “Very High,” and frame rates are also at their highest possible level.

The 120Hz OLED display and the 360Hz touch sampling rate significantly improve the user’s immersion. However, the problem with the phone is that it can’t keep up a high level of performance over time. Therefore, after playing a few games in Battlegrounds Mobile India, you may experience decreased frame rates.

Conclusion

In India, Xiaomi has been the undisputed leader in the low- and middle-priced smartphone market for the last several years. The company’s newest Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G will carry on this tradition. Not because Xiaomi has produced an especially well-made phone, but because its rivals have failed so miserably.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G is a decent choice in the sub-20,000 price range despite its rather large size. This phone tips the scales in its favor because of its brilliant display and amazing battery performance, despite the fact that its cameras don’t live up to the expectations and the lack of continuous performance.
