Realme 10 Pro plus: A Midrange Phone With Bloatware

The AMOLED screen of the Realme 10 Pro Plus is large at 6.7 inches and supports a rapid 120Hz refresh rate. The combination of the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor and as much as 12 GB of RAM ensures brisk performance. In addition, a sizable 5000 mAh battery supports rapid charging at 67W.

Not only that, but it also uses the newest version of Android, OS 13. Considering all you get, this seems like a steal. But there is no such thing as a flawless gadget, and Realme has also made certain concessions. This review will determine whether the Realme 10 Pro Plus is worth its high price tag.

Availability and Price in India

The base model of the Realme 10 Pro Plus with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space has been released worldwide at a price of RMB 1699 (about Rs 19,500). Other models with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage are available for RMB 1999 (around Rs 22,900) and RMB 2299 (around Rs 26,400), respectively.

The phone will have three color choices: black, starlight, and ocean color. The release date for the phone in India is December 15th, 2022.

Design

Considering its low price, the phone’s appearance is sleek and sophisticated. Beginning with the device’s back, we see the Realme logo in the bottom left corner, followed by two circular camera islands in the top left corner, and finally, the flash in between them. A single main sensor is housed on one of the islands, whereas on the other, there are two. The handset’s glossy back panel in bright light reflects a pleasing pattern.

Fingerprints and smudges are visible on the rear panel. In order to keep your phone clean and scratch-free, a protective cover is a must. When compared to other phones in the same price range, Realme stands head and shoulders above the rest due to its superior curved display. All around the gadget were ultra-narrow borders. The ultra-symmetrical curved front and back design, the 1.41mm side bezels, and the 2.33mm bottom bezel create an almost bezel-free display.

The hole for the front-facing sensor is punched out in the center of the upper half. The power/volume buttons on the left spine and the speaker grille, SIM tray, and USB Type-C connector are on the bottom. On top, it features a secondary speaker and a microphone for recording sound. The gadget is relatively light at only approximately 173 grams.

Display

The curved 6.7-inch Realme 10 Pro Plus screen is Full HD+ AMOLED. In addition to a 90.5% screen-to-body ratio, it has a 394 ppi pixel density, a 20:9 aspect ratio, 800 nits of peak brightness, and a 384 ppi touch sampling rate. It’s also HDR10+, and Widevine L1 certified so that you can watch Netflix and YouTube in high definition. For screen safety, a Gorilla Glass 5 cover is installed.

It has a clear, sharp, and bright display. Thanks to the super AMOLED technology, the blacks are very rich. The 120 Hz refresh rate adds a layer of silkiness to the fluid experience. By making the bezels as narrow as possible, Realme was able to increase the screen size without increasing the overall size of the smartphone.

Camera

The phone’s optics come from a triple camera system on its back. There is a main sensor with 108 megapixels, an ultrawide sensor with 8 megapixels, and a macro sensor with 2 megapixels. The front-facing camera, though, is a whopping 16 megapixels. In terms of videography, the main camera can record at 4K at 30 fps, while the front-facing camera can record at 1080p resolution at the same frame rate.

This phone takes decent pictures, but only in bright light. So be realistic about your expectations when the lighting is poor. The ultra-wide-angle sensor and the macro lens both perform well.

Excellent image-editing tools are available to assist people in improving their pictures. Artificial intelligence palettes and retouching tools include enhancements like whiter teeth and brighter eyes.

Battery and Connectivity

The Realme 10 Pro Plus has a 5000 mAh battery and can be charged at 67W. Now let’s speak about the phone’s connection choices, which include 5G connectivity with Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.2, Dual Band WiFi, WiFi Calling, Near Field Communication (NFC), Mobile Hotspot, USB Type C, and a 3.5mm Audio Jack.

Software

The software has several useful features, including an always-on display, customizable themes, fingerprint-scanning animations, advanced media controls, and customizable widgets. In the Realme Lab menu, you can access features like Dual Mode audio (to use wired and wireless connections at once), Sleep Capsule (essentially a night mode), and Heart Rate Measurement. While the Realme phone has no significant flaws in terms of hardware, you should be aware of the bloatware that comes preinstalled on it. Some of the half a dozen pre-installed apps on the smartphone may constantly bother you with irrelevant alerts. Turn off all the applications that send you unnecessary alerts if you’d rather not deal with this nonsense. Aside from that, RealmeUI 4.0 is user-friendly, adaptable, and straightforward.

Performance

The new MediaTek 1080 (6nm) chipset drives the Realme 10 Pro Plus. For graphical processing, the phone also has an ARM Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. In addition, the phone has both LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. This smartphone’s operating system, Realme UI 4.0, is built on Android 13 out of the box.

The fast refresh rate of the screen aids in creating a fluid experience. The phone handles memory well. When it comes to random access memory (RAM), you may acquire up to 3GB more by expanding it with internal storage. The reality is this won’t change your life in any significant way.

Conclusion

On paper, Realme’s 10 Pro Plus looks like a capable smartphone since it has a number of features and specifications more often seen in high-end midrange devices. The 120Hz refresh rate and a high-quality curved screen will wow every user.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset guarantees the phone’s smooth performance during regular use. In addition, the large battery and 67W quick charge mean you won’t be without your smartphone for long.

The Realme 10 Pro Plus is a game-changer thanks to all these upgrades.
