OPPO K10 5G: Affordable, Reliable 5G Phone

One of Oppo’s more affordable 5G products this year is the K10 5G. If you are in the market for a new affordable 5G smartphone, I hope this review of the K10 5G will shed some light on the device’s many features and will help you to make an informed purchase decision.

Price in India

Even though there’s just one memory choice for the Oppo K10 5G, you may choose between two distinct colors (Midnight Black and Ocean Blue) for Rs 17,499. It was launched in June 2022.

Design

The Oppo K10 5G’s high-end design belies its affordable pricing. The gadget has a 5000mAh battery and measures 7.99 mm in thickness, making it one of the thinnest 5G phones available. In addition, the phone’s sleek, straight-edge design and rounded corners make it comfortable to carry, even for long periods or while using only one hand.

The camera module does not appear like an afterthought or a gimmick because of how well the screen conceals it. The Midnight Black model has a sleek back panel, although all colors are great.

With OPPO Glow technology, the polycarbonate rear panel offers a metallic appearance and resists scratches and fingerprints. It’s refreshing to see such a premium feature on a cheap phone since it’s often reserved for the top-tier models that companies like Oppo release.

The front-facing camera has its own dedicated teardrop-shaped notch on the 6.55-inch screen. A punch-hole type cutting would have been preferable since it is more contemporary. However, the teardrop-shaped cutout does not hinder seeing or playing games.

The bezels aren’t particularly thick. Slightly increased thickness in the chin bezel is expected, as it is with almost every smartphone, including those costing many times as much.

Display

There’s a 6.56-inch IPS LCD screen at your disposal. Despite being an IPS LCD screen, the blacks are sufficiently deep and rich. They can’t even compare to the quality of an OLED screen.

The color reproduction on the screen is excellent. Even though there is no High Dynamic Range (HDR) certification, the colors are vivid and lifelike. The panel is fully compatible with the DCIP3 high-color space. With High Brightness Mode enabled, the screen can reach up to 600 nits of brightness. As a bonus, the field of vision is superb in every direction.

Furthermore, the screen is capable of a 90Hz refresh rate. The experience of using the gadget at its maximum refresh rate was heavenly. This may not seem like a big deal now, but not very long ago, even flagship smartphones didn’t have a refresh rate this fast.

Camera

The AI twin cameras on the back of the Oppo K10 5G are a nice touch. However, the main camera does the heavy work, which has a 48MP sensor and a 26mm wide-angle f/1.7 lens. We also have a depth sensor (2MP, f/2.4 lens) built in, and it appears like Oppo included a second camera simply because it would be strange for a midrange smartphone in 2022 to have just one camera, no matter how powerful it is.

It has an 8-megapixel sensor and a 26mm wide-angle lens for the front-facing camera. The camera app’s user interface is streamlined and easy to use. It comes with various settings like night mode, face detection, video mode, high dynamic range, artificial intelligence, and more. Night, Photo, Portrait, Expert, Video, Extra HD, Panorama, Slow-Motion, Time-Lapse, and Pro are all available as shooting modes.

You also get an “ultra high definition” (UHD) setting for photograph-taking. You’re better off simply shooting in full 48MP mode since it tends to overprocess the picture in some scenarios.

Both the front and back cameras can only record 1080p at 30 frames per second, but the quality is excellent.

Use the front-facing camera in good lighting conditions. But a 16-megapixel version would have been preferable. However, the weaknesses of the armor come out when you use the camera in low light.

Battery

The Oppo K10 5G battery life, at 5,000mAh, is more than sufficient for a full day of usage.

The Oppo K10 5G allows 33W SuperVOOC rapid charging, which can bring the battery from 1% to over 50% in around 30 minutes, so you won’t have to worry about plugging in too often.

Network

The Oppo K10 5G pro offers a cutting-edge network that supports GSM, CDMA, HSPA, EVDO, LTE, and 5G, with speeds of up to HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps, LTE-A, and 5G.

Sound

While the oppo K10 5G pro lacks a 3.5 mm headphone port, it does come with a dual speaker system. This loudspeaker is great for listening to music or audio in any environment.

Hardware and Performance

The 6nm MediaTek MT6833P Dimensity 810 SoC powers the Oppo K10 5G, which has two Cortex A76 processing cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and six Cortex A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. As a graphics processor, you also have Mali-G57 MC2.

Connectivity options include USB Type-C 2.0, Bluetooth 5.3, dual-band WiFi, and Near Field Communication (NFC). The phone also includes seven 5G bands.

Those using it will have access to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, which may be increased theoretically to a maximum of 13 GB. This is a great feature to have if you’re a strong multitasker who has to move between programs often—no external storage card slots. However, you can choose between 128GB and 256GB of internal storage and 8GB or 12GB of RAM.

The device’s memory management is also superb, making for a very quick and responsive user experience. Its responsiveness will make you forget that you’re using a low-cost smartphone.

Conclusion

Manufacturers need to be very careful about where they attempt to reduce costs, given how competitive the sub-Rs 20,000 budget smartphone sector is in India right now. Nevertheless, the Oppo K10 5G is an excellent smartphone overall and offers superb value for the price. It boasts a balanced and all-around performance and a very responsive screen that faithfully reproduces color.

However, Oppo’s smartphone is disappointed by its IPS LCD HD+ display and lackluster front-facing camera.
