The iPhone 13 Pro Max’s cameras can capture 4K video for up to 60 frames per second (fps) in Dolby Vision HDR and 4K video at up to 30 fps in ProRes. However, the 4K 30p ProRes video recording mode is only available on handsets with 256GB of storage or more. The 128 GB models can only record 1080p at 30 frames per second in ProRes.
These modern smartphones also include a Cinematic Mode that records movies with depth-of-field and automatically centers subjects (people, dogs, and objects) in the frame (as the Portrait Mode for images). Recording in slow motion is also possible. However, only at a maximum quality of Full HD 1080p at 240 frames per second. Night Mode and stabilization are also available for use with time-lapse footage.
Battery
Apple has upgraded the batteries in its latest iPhones to accommodate the high-refresh-rate display. iPhone 13 Pro is powered by a 3,095mAh battery, whereas the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 4,352mAh battery. Apple says the battery life of both new models has improved over previous models. Fast wired charging (at 20W), wireless charging (at 7.5W), and MagSafe charging (at 15W) are all supported by smartphones. In addition, a wide range of MagSafe accessories (chargers, cases, mounts, etc.) is compatible with both devices. Besides the Dolby Atmos dual speakers and the IP68 grade for dust and water resistance, there’s also Apple Pay.
Software
While iOS 15 doesn’t make as big of a splash as iOS 14 did with new widgets, it does bring some welcome and enjoyable changes. As on iOS 15.1, you can now use the new SharePlay feature to play music or watch movies and TV with friends and family. FaceTime also receives some much-needed audio and visual upgrades. In addition, a new Shared with You tab has been added to the Messages app, making it simpler to see and access shared media.
